Our role is to be the go-to organization for all things tourism and lead the development of Red Deer and region into a compelling tourism destination that is animated by attractive experiences, engaged visitors, exciting events, and welcoming hosts.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) you will be responsible for the overall leadership of Tourism Red Deer and its operations.
While supporting the Board and governance structure, you will focus on the strategic planning process, management of the financial resources and reporting, while leading and developing the people in the organization. You will play a large role in communications and community relations and provide and lead the development of tourism resources and collaboration opportunities for stakeholder.
**Key Responsibility Areas**:

**Leadership**:
- Provides overall leadership in the development, communication and execution of the vision, mission and the corresponding strategies, plans, and budgets to achieve them.
- Oversees and provides direction for the key functional areas of Tourism Marketing, Destination Development, and Tourism Events
- Provides vision, leadership, coaching, mentoring and performance-based structure for employees to ensure strong performance, continued improvement, and development
- Searches for opportunities by taking initiative and looking outward for innovative ways to improve
- Provides general oversight of all Tourism Red Deer activities, manage the day-to-day operations and assure a smoothly functioning, efficient organization.
- Develops and implements standards and controls, systems and procedures, with regular evaluation to provide overall program quality and organization stability
- Commits to and ensures a standard of excellence in all programs and services reflecting the organization’s priorities
- Models and fosters a proactive and results orientated leadership style
**Board Support and Governance**:
- Supports and works with the Board to fulfill its Policy Board Governance functions and facilitates the optimum performance by the Board, its committees, and individual Directors
- Develops and provides appropriate policy recommendations for consideration and approval by the board for effective policy governance
- Establishes and maintains a productive, sound relationship with the Board of Directors and appointed officers ensuring they have all the information and support needed
- Monitors and evaluates progress made on organizational goals, strategies and outcomes, and report results to the Board of Directors and funders on an ongoing basis through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Prepares monthly board report packages or as requested, on behalf of the organization and its work
- Proposes agendas for the board of directors and committees reflecting issues, opportunities, and priorities
- Provides guidance, assistance, and resources for the Board in business and strategic planning
- Assists in orienting board members and providing support and information as needed
**Strategic Planning**:
- Assess, manages, executes, and builds upon the strategic plan through consultation and collaboration with the Board of Directors
- Develops short
- and long-term objectives to accomplish the organization’s goals
- Translates operational priorities into action and leads change
- Develops and establishes a business plan that outlines specific financial and management objectives as required to accomplish the strategic direction and supports outcomes for the organization
- Leads operational analysis initiatives and forecasts the resources and service levels needed to carry out organizational initiatives
**Financial Management**:
- Oversees the effective, management, accountability, and stewardship of all financial resources and organizational assets
- Develops the annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors. Management and oversite of the financial procedures to ensure the alignment of budget with strategic plan.
- Oversees implementation, monitoring, and maintaining of financial and internal controls over financial reporting and maintains accountability through appropriate policies and procedures
- Allocates and distributes resources in accordance with policy and procedure, as well as the approved budget
- Reviews and approves submitted department budgets
- Develops short and long-term financial plans and budgets designed to support the strategic and operational objectives of the organization
**People Management**:
- Fosters a positive, innovative team where employees work cohesively to deliver expected outcomes
