**_Athabasca University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is recruiting to the position of Academic Coordinator, Environmental Studies._** **_ This is a part-time (0.2FTE) term position October 1, 2025 to January 27, 2027._** The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest Faculty in Athabasca University and offers a wide range of online courses and programs in the areas of education, humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and social sciences. We take great pride in being a student-centered Faculty, focused on ensuring that your academic journey is rich, meaningful, and memorable." **The Position**: The Acting Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the teaching, administration and maintenance of a suite Environmental Studies courses (ENVS 201, 205, 300, 325, 343, 350, 461 and 435) as well as courses in Global Studies (GLST 343) and Sociology (SOCI 450), all of which are associated with Athabasca University's Bachelor of Environmental Studies (BES) degree program. Coordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors (who teach and consult with students and mark their assignments), the handling of student issues as they are brought forward by students, tutors, or the institution (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests), and service to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences). The Coordinator may also be required to attend and possibly host Student Conferences involving BES program students and undertake tasks associated with course revisions in production. **Qualifications**: Athabasca University is hiring an academic coordinator with expertise in Environmental Studies; a PhD and familiarity with Athabasca University systems is required. Experience in distance learning, familiarity with digital teaching technologies and several of Athabasca University's environmental studies courses would also be preferred assets.
