We take great pride in being a student-centered Faculty, focused on ensuring that your academic journey is rich, meaningful, and memorable." **The Position**: The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the teaching, administration and maintenance of Athabasca University's University Certificate in Gender and Social Justice Counselling, including the courses PSYC 345: The Psychology of Gender and Sexuality; PSYC 347: Introduction to Feminist Counselling; WGST 302: Communication Skills and Counselling Practice; WGST 304: Issues in Aboriginal Women's Health and Wellness; WGST 305: Decolonizing Mental Health; WGST 310: Feminist Approaches to Counselling Women; WGST 422: Violence Against Women: A Global Perspective; and WGST 499: Final Project. Coordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors (who teach and consult with students and mark their assignments), the handling of student issues as they are brought forward by students, tutors, or the institution (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests), and service to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences). **Qualifications**: Athabasca University is hiring an academic coordinator who holds a combination of professional, research, pedagogical, and/or advocacy expertise relating to intersectional gender theory as it relates to mental health and counselling. Fluency in issues relating to intersectional feminist psychologies, counselling skills, social determinants of mental health, crisis intervention skills, social justice counselling, critical disability studies, Indigenous health, decolonial pedagogies, transgender studies, violence against women, transnational feminisms, and critical race theory will also be an asset. Teaching experience is required. A minimum of a Master's degree in Women's and Gender Studies or a related field is required; a PhD is preferred. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies would also be preferred assets.
