**Main Purpose and Function**

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provides a range of professional services and some technical support related to the implementation of the Vancouver Plan, as well as other area plans.
- Assists in the development of new land use policy, including district schedules and guidelines.
- Designs and conducts public and stakeholder consultation activities, including meetings and workshops.
- Conducts complex policy research and data analysis.
- Writes reports, facilitates meetings, and presents to other staff, management, City Council and external stakeholders.
- Works with representatives from other departments and residents to support the delivery of public benefits and public realm improvements.
- Supervises junior staff and provides direction and guidance to professional consultants engaged by the City.

**Qualifications**

Education and Experience:

- A university graduate degree in planning or a related discipline, recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Considerable knowledge of planning and research methodologies.
- Knowledge of the City's community and area plans, and related policies.
- Ability to development and review land use policies and area plans in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Ability to manage and complete projects or distinct components of a larger work program.
- Ability to provide policy advice and/or leading policy enquiry reviews.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex issues through Council reports and presentations, or comparable documentation and presentations.
- Ability to develop and conduct public engagement processes.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement in managing workload while delivering projects on time.
- Ability to work independently and participate successfully in work teams.
