An empathy for and understanding of the needs of the elderly
- No formal education required, but a benefit to have experience with housekeeping in a health care facility
- Must be familiar with the use of cleaning equipment
- Have initiative, good judgement and be able to work independently
- Must be able to read, speak and write English and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to co-operate and get along with co-workers
- Must be able to do simple arithmetic calculations

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:
In good physical health
- Must be able to stand and walk short distances throughout the workday
- Must be able to stoop, lift and carry cleaning equipment and supplies
- Must be free of communicable diseases

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Have a complete understanding of and practice infection control policies with respect to hand washing, separation of clean and dirty items on cart and handling of soiled linens to prevent cross contamination
- Be knowledgeable of and practice facility’s fire and safety

**DUTIES**:

- Clean resident bedrooms including vacuuming, dusting of furniture and knick-knacks, vacuuming under beds and other furniture, changing of linen, dusting of bed frames, washing of windows, and mirrors and any other cleaning duty as specified
- Cleans and sanitizes all bathrooms including toilet, hand basins, bathtub and shower tiles, floors vanity and mirror, following proper policies and procedures including wearing PPE equipment, changing linens as needed
- Replenishes paper supplies and soap
- Empties garbage cans daily
- Dusts light fixtures and window ledges as required
- Notes depletion of supplies and monitors equipment for referral of repairs to maintenance
- Cleans, dusts, and vacuums lounges, corridors and public areas
- Launders residents personal clothing, ensuring clothes are returned to rightful owners
- Prepares vacated rooms for admissions
- Other related duties as required

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 0-29 per week

**Salary**: From $16.85 per hour
