**Responsibilities**:
The Night Attendant is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety, security and well-being of people supported by BACLA throughout the night. The position allows for the employee to sleep/rest throughout specific hours on the 12 or 13 hour shift. Specific duties include:

- Assist adults with intellectual disabilities with all aspects of daily living.
- Effectively interact and problem solve with people we support, demonstrating empathy, genuineness and respect.
- Act from the basis of always considering the person’s best interests first.
- Review communication notes, logs/fast facts book, medication sheets and all pertinent information at the beginning of shift.
- Administer medications.
- Provide personal care to individuals such as assistance with daily hygiene routines.
- Maintain clear, concise and accurate communication logs, shift outlines, reports, etc.
- Be knowledgeable of and follow any guidelines in place regarding behavioural needs and approaches.
- Ensure that people supported are appropriately dressed and groomed for the time of day, time of year and social circumstances.
- Complete all required chores/tasks as indicated on the Night Shift outline, complete all documentation.
- Assist in maintaining the househould which includes cooking, preparing meals, laundry, meal preparation, cleaning.
- Respect and maintain the confidentiality of all work related information.

**Requirements**:

- Developmental Services Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Diploma, Social Services Worker Diploma or Personal Support Worker Diploma is preferred.
- Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities would be considered an asset.
- A Valid G Driver’s License is required.
- Emergency First Aid (Level A) is required before working first shift.
- Vulnerable Person Criminal Records Check (updated within the last 6 months) is required.
- CPI Certification would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills.

**Hours of Work**:

- This position has 12 or 13 hour night shifts. The employee will work 65 hours every two weeks on a set schedule. The schedule incudes working every _other_ Friday and Saturday night. In a two week period the employee is only required to work 5 days out of 14. There is an opportunity to pick up extra hours and work overtime should the employee be interested in doing so.

**Salary**: $20.91-$23.99 per hour
