Estimator Project Manager

The Estimator/Project Manager performs take-offs from construction drawings and calculates the costs of labor and material for the construction project. The Estimator/Project Manager will also lead with overseeing/managing construction projects.
**Job Specifications**:
- College Diploma in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or related program.
- 2 years’ experience in estimating and project management work.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Commitment to working in a team environment.
- Must work well independently and unsupervised.
- Excellent attention to quality, accuracy and details.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Excellent time management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Project; Planswift experience is an asset.
- Occasional travel to site locations is required
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to access security sensitive site by passing requires required screening protocols (MGS, CPIC, OPP, Etc.)

Estimator/Project Manager **Duties**:
- Attend pre-tender meetings, including estimate reviews and tender closings.
- Download Contract Documentation (Bestbidz, Merx, Biddingo)
- Create Electronic Estimate Folder
- Create Hard Copy Estimate Binder
- Update Estimate Log
- Create Meeting Requests for Site Visit Date In Outlook Calendar
- Create Meeting Requests for Tender Closing Date in Outlook Calendar
- Request Project Specific Insurance
- Download Detailed WSIB Certificate
- Fill In and Print Tender Forms + Appendices
- Create Detailed Tender Envelopes
- Complete Technical Submission Docs (Reference Projects, Project Team Resumes, Etc.)
- Assist in Quantity Surveying Tasks
- Assist in Project Pricing Tasks
- Assist with Reviewing and reading drawings
- Plot Drawings as Directed by Estimating Lead
- Tender Schedule as Directed by Estimating Lead
- Find Project Cash Allowances Within Project Specifications if Applicable
- Request, Submit, and Return Shop Drawings
- Issue and Update Subcontractor/Supplier Purchase Orders
- Preparing Site Binders
- Preparing Site Binders with All Applicable Project Documentation
- Site Report Templates (T&M, Incident, Injury, Site Specific Safety, Tool Inventory etc.)
- Project Contact List (Owner, Consultant, GC, Subcontractors)
- Prepare Project Invoicing Information Sheet (Owner, Consultant, GC, Invoicing personnel, Ref #’s etc.)
- Prepare a List of Required Project Inspections with Consultant and Project Manager
- Prepare Construction Cash Flow (separate cash allowances if applicable)
- Prepare Turnover Binders (Warranties, Shop Drawings, Project Securities, Reports, Site Instructions, Meeting Minutes, Change Orders, Etc.)
- Prepare SRS Warranty Letters
- Request Subcontractor Warranties
- Prepare Substantial/Total Completion Invoices
- Close building Permits
**Job Summary**
**Responsibilities**
- Oversee the estimating department, managing a team of estimators to ensure accurate and timely project bids.
- Utilize HeavyBid software to build comprehensive cost estimates for various construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for effective pricing strategies.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to determine project requirements and costs.
- Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive rates while maintaining quality standards.
- Review and approve final estimates before submission to clients, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Implement best practices for estimating processes and continuously improve efficiency within the team.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior estimators, fostering professional development within the department.
**Qualifications**
- Proven experience in construction estimating, with a strong understanding of industry standards and practices.
- Proficiency in HeavyBid and Bluebeam software is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Excellent project management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional analytical skills for evaluating project costs effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory based on experience.
