NABORS circles of support are made up of our friends and families who freely give their time to assist us to make informed decisions, act on choices, manage our paid supports and feel safe. Members are supported to live in the homes of their choice and be fully included in the community.

**About the Job**:
The Community Support Worker will work to enrich the opportunities and daily life activities for a woman who lives with disability (“supported member”).

Problem solving with member when facing challenges and constructing achievable self-supporting solutions for member that promote independence. Taking initiative to explore and find inclusive opportunities for member based on his passions and interests to expand community while using exceptional organizational skills to plan timelines with member, organize a consistent schedule and providing structure to the daily needs and communication with the circle and other folks involved.

**The Support Worker provides support by**:

- Arrive at home and take the lead on refocusing and motivating supported member to get out of bed and prepare for the day.
- Offer behavioural direction and use patience in responding to mood fluctuations.
- Assist with light meal preparation, including packing lunch for day programs or activities.
- Ensure anything required for the day is packed and ready to go with the supported member.
- Observe supported member taking medication to ensure it is taken as prescribed (supported member is able to take medication orally and independently).
- Encourage and facilitate daily activities, community outings, and structured routines.
- Act as a positive, active “go-getter” to help initiate and maintain engagement throughout the day.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle, guiding the supported member to make and explore healthy choices in food, activities, and routines.
- Maintain strong communication with family to keep them informed of activities and progress.

**Specific Skill Sets or Requirements**
- Female staff only.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working with individuals with Autism and special needs who may have varying behavioural challenges.
- Proven ability to remain calm, patient, and effective in redirecting behaviours.
- Knowledge of behavioural strategies and mood management techniques.
- Experience in community integration and daily living support.
- Honest, reliable, and committed to maintaining consistent communication with the family.

**Additional Requirements**
- Must be proactive, energetic, and comfortable leading activities both in the home and in the community.
- Ability to engage in motivational redirection when required.
- Comfortable assisting with light meal preparation.
- Must be reliable, punctual, honest, and committed to consistent scheduling

**Mandatory**:

- Vulnerable Sector Check (we will assist with this)
- 2 doses for the Covid vaccine
- Valid Emergency First aid & CPR (if you do not have a current one, there is a window of time to get it when you start)

**Wage: 23.34 per hour**

**This position reports to the supported member’s circle of unpaid circle members.**

**The hiring is conditional upon clearing a Vulnerable Sector Police check. Emergency First Aid & CPR will be required.**
