Portofino Bakery was founded over 20 years ago in Victoria, BC with the mission to provide better artisan bread to the local community. Today, we have over 200 team members, 3 facilities, and are continuing our mission to enrich the lives of our customers with every baked good.

Portofino Bakery is part of Bond Bakery Brands, a stakeholder-focused investment platform started by three friends, and includes Pace Processing & Product Development, Holy Napoli, and Coco Bakery. Together, we are building better bakeries.

**The Bread and Butter of the Position**

Our Warehouse & Shipping Team Members are the backbone of our operations. The primary focus is warehouse organization, packaging, and shipping support — but this role also provides cross-training in delivery and merchandising so our team can flex as needed. From packaging product and maintaining inventory, to transferring goods between facilities, to occasionally filling delivery or merchandising shifts, this position requires adaptability, reliability, and attention to detail.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Warehouse & Inventory (Primary Focus)**_
- Package, case, and label product in compliance with company procedures.
- Maintain cased product organization, following FIFO standards.
- Report any damaged, unlabeled, unpresentable, or missing product.
- Assist inventory control with administrative tasks as needed.
- Support packaging department with end-of-line duties when required.
- Operate packaging and warehouse equipment safely and only after training.
- Assist with order building.
- Maintain a “clean as you go” approach and uphold Good Manufacturing Practices.
- **Receiving**_
- Receive deliveries and complete all related documentation.
- Ensure deliveries meet food safety standards and are from approved suppliers.
- Put away received materials promptly and accurately.
- Record any damaged or missing product.
- Work with Procurement to verify orders match purchase requirements.
- **Shipping & Delivery Support**_
- Prepare finished product for shipment, ensuring correct labeling and safe assembly.
- Load transfer trucks (1 ton and 5 ton) in an organized manner.
- Cross-trained to drive transfer or delivery routes as needed, including:

- Costco Depot deliveries
- Lineage order pickups
- Facility-to-facility transfers
- Ensure all shipping documentation is accurate and complete.
- Communicate discrepancies to the appropriate department.
- **Merchandising (Occasional Backup)**_
- Fill in as a merchandiser when required, ensuring product is displayed with care at customer locations.
- **General**_
- Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness inside and outside the facility.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors, QA, procurement, and production teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**The Ingredients You Bring to the Table**
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00 am-5:30 pm, with occasional delivery or merchandising coverage as needed.
- A Class 5 driver’s license and a clean 5-year abstract.
- Previous warehouse or driving experience is an asset.
- Forklift ticket and hand/electric jack experience are assets (we will train if needed).
- Commitment to punctuality, reliability, and quality standards.
