Youth and Community Helpers Facilitator

**Youth Asset Facilitator** **TERM Position to March 31, 2027** The Youth Asset Facilitator will implement initiatives and strategies based on the Asset Development philosophy. They will work to support and strengthen community youth; to ensure meaningful engagement with the goal of mobilizing young people to use their power as Asset Builders and change agents. The Youth Asset Facilitator will coordinate and implement the Community Helpers Program (CHP), an AHS-developed mental health promotion and suicide prevention program that is targeted at youth and young adults (ages 12-30) and enhances community capacity for mental health through an assets-based approach. They will provide leadership to the SPARC Sylvan Lake Addiction Prevention Coalition and assist in the delivery of their initiatives, which may include Positive Youth Development training and education, intergenerational events, youth leadership coalition, and other youth-focused campaigns and initiatives. **SUMMARY OF FUNCTION**: - Youth Asset Work; Use the Developmental Assets® and Developmental Relationships® framework to connect youth to themselves, other youth, and the community; promote feelings of community and positive relationships among groups, and guide skill-building activities with youth and those who work with youth. - Professional Community Services Engagement: deliver coordinated, high-quality education and training, by working with relevant local and regional social service agencies, organizations and associations; developing networking opportunities; liaise with partner schools to deliver programming and track trends and issues impacting youth; encourage community organizations and businesses to get youth involved in meaningful roles. - Community Site Engagement and Capacity Building: Engage with community sites (schools, workplaces, etc.) to implement AHS-CHP and Positive Youth Development training, with a focus on community organizations that support LGBTQ2S+ or new Canadian, immigrant, or refugee youth and young adults. - Identification and Training of AHS Community Helpers: Identify potential Community Helpers through surveys or other means. - Evaluation and Reporting: Maintain up-to-date records on AHS Community Helpers, training participants, and community contacts, prepare reports on numbers of participants and qualitative data (e.g., impact stories). - Participation and local coalitions and network meetings: Attend and provide leadership in meetings locally and regionally as needed.- Communications/Marketing: Promote and raise awareness of the AHS-CHP, SPARC Coalition, and other youth development initiatives using a variety of marketing and communications methods. **TRAININGAND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**: - Related undergraduate degree (e.g. Social Work, Education, Human Service degree) - 2-3 years of relevant experience - Current 1st Aid, CPR & AED Certification - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Mental Health First Aid - Valid driver’s license and own transportation - A professional understanding of youth work, including work with LGBTQ2S+ and new Canadian, immigrant or refugee youth - Strong understanding of local and regional mental health resources and social programs for youth and young adults - Experience with recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers - Experience promoting and building awareness about wellness initiatives - Experience monitoring and measuring program development - Experience developing and facilitating youth-focused programming to a variety of group sizes - RCMP Based Vulnerable Sector Check Required **Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract Contract length: 16 months Pay: $31.21 per hour Expected hours: 35 per week **Benefits**: - Company events - Employee assistance program - On-site gym - On-site parking - Wellness program Flexible language requirement: - French not required Schedule: - Evening shift - Monday to Friday - Weekends as needed **Education**: - Bachelor's Degree (preferred) Licence/Certification: - RCMP Based Vulnerable Sector Check (required) - Alberta Drivers License with
