Clinical Counsellor

Are you able to p_erforms mental health and addictions assessment and treatment? Do you have a _passionate about _meeting the holistic needs of the clients? The Mustard Seed is seeking _an experienced Clinical Counsellor to provide care and support for our city's most vulnerable._

The Clinical Counsellor is committed to helping people experiencing homelessness or poverty transition towards maintaining sustainable and healthy lifestyles through the provision of appropriate treatment and case management services. This includes services that are both inclusionary and flexible for individuals with mental illness, addictions or concurrent disorders (i.e. physical impairment and mental illness). The Clinical Counsellor will work within a team environment to provide appropriate counselling and assessments to both children and adults in order to enable appropriate provision of care and tailor interventions. The Clinical Counsellor advocates for client as needed both to access resources within and outside the organization, continue to update resources for staff, clients and future students. The Clinical Counsellor also provides a wide battery of assessments to both pediatric and adult populations including, but not limited to, developmental, psycho-educational, behavioral and provide input into program evaluation upon request.

**Schedule**: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Master’s degree in Counselling or Social Work; active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), or Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), or an equivalent regulatory body, either provisionally or fully;
- Knowledge of mental illness and treatment; substance abuse and addictions treatment; psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects); psychotherapeutic and counselling skills, with particular emphasis on evidence-based interventions with trauma and attachment disruption in populations who experience historical oppression;
- Understanding of vulnerable populations, in particular those experiencing homelessness, and 1-2 years’ experience working in the field;
- Familiarity with legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to the clientele;
- Specialized training in psychological tests and assessments, with a declared competency in administration;
- Work with adult populations; some pediatric work also preferred;
- Working knowledge with MS Word and Office, experience with an electronic medical record system as benefit;

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Time in excess of regular working hours may be required on occasion.
- Local travel to various Mustard Seed sites, client residencies, and external agencies will be required.
