CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Research Assistant.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to support the daily activities of research operations. The role will primarily involve data entry, completing paperwork, assisting with patient visits, and supporting REB submissions. Additional responsibilities may include creating schedules, maintaining stock, and placing orders as needed.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of Dr. Hugh McMillan, the Research Assistant will:

- Assist with data entry and ensure accurate and timely completion of research documentation and paperwork.
- Support patient visits by preparing necessary materials, coordinating schedules, and assisting with patient interactions.
- Aid in preparing and submitting Research Ethics Board (REB) submissions and related paperwork.
- Help create and maintain research schedules for team members, patients, and appointments.
- Manage inventory, maintain stock, and place orders for research materials and supplies as needed.
- Support day-to-day operations of the research team to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to research protocols.
- Be responsible for the creation and maintenance of research files according to study guidelines (Good Clinical Practice Guidelines).
- Identifying children and their families eligible to be recruited to the study.
- Create and maintain research and project files.
- Perform various administrative duties.
- Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND ABILITIES
- College or University undergraduate degree (Essential)
- Understanding of research design, procedures, guidelines and standards governing clinical research including Personal Health Information Protection Act (Essential)
- Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office) (Essential)
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and
organizational skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated collegiality, professionalism and team skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work independently (Essential)
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of research experience working on a Clinical Trial, preferably a Regulated Trial (volunteer acceptable) (preferred)
- Data management experience (preferred)

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Clinic setting work within hospital; exposure to children and parents and/or caregivers.
- This job requires you to be on site.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Eligible to work in Canada;
- Compliance with CHEO RI’s Universal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy; and
- Police Record Check.
