Clearview School Division is a public education system offering a comprehensive range of programs to serve the learning needs of approximately 2,400 Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in and around the communities of Big Valley, Botha, Brownfield, Byemoor, Castor, Coronation, Donalda, Erskine, and Stettler.
Clearview supports student learning at 22 school sites, including ten schools on Hutterite colonies. The Facilities Department is integral to creating and maintaining safe and functional learning at our regular schools and outreaches, along with the Central Services Office, Maintenance Warehouse, Stettler Bus Shop and Coronation Bus Depot.
**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Secretary-Treasurer, the **Director of Facilities** is a key leader in the Division, responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and implementation of facility operations and maintenance. This role requires a forward-thinking and visionary leader who ensures that buildings and facilities are not only optimally maintained but also safe and conducive to learning, working, and visiting.
- Be a strategic leader who prioritizes safety, ensuring that all facilities provide a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to plan and execute long-term initiatives that align with the Division’s goals and educational mission.
- Possess exceptional skills in building and fostering collaborative relationships with principals, division leadership, custodians, maintenance staff and contractors.
- Exhibit experience managing complex projects, budgets, and operational priorities.
- Display strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, ensuring transparency and clarity in all interactions.
- Be experienced in school building design, construction, renovations, maintenance, and safety compliance.
- Have a solid working knowledge of computer systems.
**Key Responsibilities**
As a strategic and safety-focused leader, the Director of Facilities will:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive long-term maintenance and operational plan for all facilities, ensuring alignment with educational and safety goals.
- Lead and support maintenance and custodial staff in maintaining facilities that meet high safety, health, and operational standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to proactively address potential risks.
- Plan and execute capital projects, including renovations and new construction, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and educational needs.
- Collaborate with school administrators and the leadership team to identify and prioritize facility needs that directly support student success and safety.
- Manage the Division’s facilities budget, including forecasting, allocation, and financial reporting.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, safety regulations, and provincial guidelines by attending relevant workshops and seminars.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of facility related reports required by the Division or other governmental agencies such as Alberta Education and Alberta Infrastructure.
- Maintain proper records of maintenance practices, staff training and other as required by legislations, regulations, and Division’s policies.
