Environment Supervisor

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of **Environment Supervisor**.

This permanent and full-time position is based at our Touquoy mine site in Moose River Gold Mines, located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. This mine is fully permitted and began production in Fall 2017. The position involves work indoors and outdoors, with a 4-days-on, 3-days-off schedule.

Reporting to the Environment Superintendent, the Environment Supervisor maintains and reviews the environmental monitoring databases, environmental incident tracking files, and regulatory compliance registry for the Touquoy gold mine. The role also includes supervising Environmental Technicians, Specialists, and students.

**The Opportunity**
- Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
- Actively ensure the environmental team’s compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards, and policy.
- Demonstrating safe work practices while complying with procedures
- Providing day to day direction to Environmental Technicians and students, as well as contractors/consultants. Providing senior guidance and support for the Environmental Specialists.
- Maintaining Regulatory Register of permit requirements.
- Overseeing of all departmental administrative duties.
- Assisting the Environmental Superintendent with updates to department budget and internal reporting (monthly and quarterly). Oversight of department purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and accruals to ensure timely completion and accurate tracking.
- Attending Community Liaison Committee meetings as required, including meeting minutes.
- Assisting the Environmental Superintendent with liaison with institutes of public government, government officials, and inspectors with respect to permit and license compliance and reporting. Accompanying environmental inspectors and stakeholders during periodic site field inspections and following up inspections with appropriate corrective action plans that are communicated to site managers.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of environmental law and regulations.
- Collaborating with other mine departments to provide environmental support.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of processes for internal measurement and reporting of environmental compliance performance.
- Assisting with environmental compliance audits.
- Engaging with other departments to ensure timely update and quality of environmental databases. Review data for exceedances/trends and report to management.
- Verifying accuracy of all requested or regular reports and ensure timely submission.
- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the Environment team/crew.
- Contributing to the development of capability within the Environment Team.
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
- Managing outputs and development of the Environmental Technicians and students.

- Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Completion of a degree or diploma in one of the following fields of study: Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technology program
- Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite products
- Excellent presentation and communication skills including writing reports
- Experience working on an active mine site, preferred
