Manager, Labour Relations

**Job Overview**
The Manager, Labour Relations fosters a positive labour relations environment at Stelco. This role involves planning, developing, and implementing labour relations and collective bargaining strategies, providing solutions aligned with Stelco's strategic objectives, overseeing disciplinary and grievance management processes, and leading high-stakes investigations.
This position reports to the Vice President, Human Resources.
**Responsibilities**:
- Foster positive labour relations with bargaining unit employees and representatives.
- Manage labour relations processes, including, grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining.
- Advise leadership on employee and labour relations matters.
- Support and advise on the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, policies, procedures and legislation.
- Oversee workplace harassment, discrimination, and violence investigations.
- Lead sensitive workplace investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with internal and external legal counsel.
- Manage the annual labour relations budget and performance metrics.
- Utilize analytics to identify trends and develop strategic recommendations.
- Improve employee experience through targeted initiatives and programs.
- Review and approve non-medical workplace accommodations ensuring compliance and consistency
- Develop and implement education programs on Employee Relations topics.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments on policy and compliance issues.
- Lead and contribute to special projects supporting organizational objectives.
- Develop collective bargaining strategies and mandates.
**Job Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management, Commerce/Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- CHRL or requisite experience.
- Minimum of 7+years of experience in Human Resources and Labour Relations in a unionized environment.
- Proven experience leading collective bargaining.
- Expert knowledge of labour relations, human resources, and employment legislation.
- Excellent communication, project management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle confidential information.
- Proficient in MS Office and HR systems. Workday experience is an asset.
**Job Skills and Knowledge**
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and collective bargaining.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and deadlines.
- Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset.
**Working conditions**
- Both facilities operate as a 24/7 operation in a fast-paced office and industrial manufacturing environment.
- Adherence to safety procedures and guidelines, including entering of operation area of the facilities and wearing of PPE such as hard hat, protective eye wear, gloves, respirator (if applicable) and safety boots
- On-call availability and flexibility in working hours for projects and deadlines.
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle is required
