Role Summary
Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to Propagation/Production Shift Leads/Assistant Leads.
Manage the cannabis cultivation process including cloning, transplanting, plant maintenance, pest management, destruction and product inventory management.
Roles Responsibilities
- Verify plant health and identify problems (mold/disease, insect, nutrient deficiencies).
- Environmental and Irrigation system use and troubleshooting.
- Maintain irrigation system including pH and nutrient level.
- Provide training to the team in all aspects of cultivating.
- Advanced knowledge of cannabis plant properties and genetics for strain production.
- Manage plant scheduling and organization to precisely project all plant needs on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to produce the best results for maximum yield count.
- Maintain excellent records and document all information required in each batch record using good documentation practices.
- Forecast labour needs and create efficient work schedules.
- Identify concepts and plans for cost and productivity improvements.
- Control and manage temperature and humidity levels.
- Make informed decisions related to propagation and cloning concerns and culling diseased/unhealthy plants
- Maintain safe working conditions and practices within the cultivation area.
- Delegate tasks (cleaning, propagation, harvest, etc.) to the Production Shift Lead and Harvest Assistant Leads to utilize the team to maximize efficiency.
- Utilize Software system to record growing, harvest, weighing/packaging events (seed to sale system management).
- Assist with conflict resolution within the department.
- Establish, understand, and follow all department SOPs and related forms to GMP standards.
- Complete all required documentation using good documentation practices.
- Strong communication with the Facilities Manager, Production Manager, and Executive Management
- Attend and participate in meetings as required.

Required Qualifications
**Formal Education or Equivalent**:
Post-Secondary education required in Horticulture. Experience or extensive experience in legal and regulated cannabis cultivation.
**Years of Experience**:
4+ years in similar role and must have 2+ years in Cannabis industry.
Competencies, Specialized Skills or Knowledge unique to this role:
- Proven experience in large scale plant cultivation.
- Ability to prevent pest and disease / ability to recognize issues associated with pest and disease as well as the management and treatment of issues.
- GMP experience considered a strong asset - willingness to learn our quality management system requirements.
Performance Metrics
- Professionalism: Meeting compliance with regulations at all times.
- Communication: Attend HC inspections with efficiency and politeness.
- Accountability: Identifying and taking preventive measures in response.
- Learning & Development: Training new hires on SOP’s and re-training expectations.
- Flexibility: Keeping up to date with HC regulations and ensuring SOP meet the requirements.
- Efficiency: Reviewing and executing records upon completion.
- Leadership: Coaching staff on Health Canada Compliance.
Expected Hours of Work
Can work a minimum of 8 hours a day and rotating shifts.
Working conditions
- Reliable transportation to and from the facility.
- Has the physical ability to sit, squat, bend, lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds and kneel repetitively throughout a workday.
- Able to use a ladder (up to 12 feet) and general hardware tools

Environmental Conditions
The Cultivation Lead will be exposed to pollen, allergens, and chemical pesticides on the farm. As well as fumes, dust, odors, extreme heat temperatures, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, noise, protective gear, vibrations, and water.
