**The Opportunity - Student Advising Officer, Full-Time Permanent (AUPE Student Services Officer)**

Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Student Information Systems & Records, the Student Advising Officer position exists to support students in their academic journey. Specifically this role is responsible for the administration and processes related to student registration (e.g., advising, adding and dropping courses), corresponding records (e.g., transcripts), and graduation assessment. This position includes a mix of face-to-face student services and behind-the-scenes tasks. This position is an on campus role.

**Key Job Functions**:
- Ensure students are registered into courses as per the Program of Study.- Create appropriate timetables for students on modified course loads.- Advise current students on course and program options including pathways within and beyond Olds College- Advise students on policies and processes related to academic regulations, integrity of credentials, grades, academic standing appeals, program progression, and graduation requirements.- Management of student records and corresponding data entry (e.g., student withdrawals, grade changes, course adding and dropping, and program/major changes, etc).- Supports a proactive enrolment process for continuing students including tracking and communication.- Responsible for graduation assessment, corresponding Banner student information system maintenance, transcripts and parchment processing.- Assists with Recognition of Prior Learning (i.e., transfer credit, challenge exam, prior learning assessment and recognition, course substitution and course waivers).- Collaborate with academic contacts, including Program Chairs and instructors, on student related matters as necessary.- Participate in the development of applicable college policies and procedures.

**Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required**:
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.-
- Ability to solve complex problems that demonstrate innovative thinking, flexibility, collaboration, and a student-centric approach.- Highly organized with great attention to detail.- Knowledge of student academic experience and ability to comprehend/interpret student needs.- Strong commitment to customer service.- Demonstrate a strong dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity which includes actively seeking out and valuing diverse perspectives, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals of all backgrounds, and continuously striving to create a culture of respect and understanding.- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.- Required to work occasional evenings and weekends.
