**About the Opportunity**:
An opening exists for a fulltime Dietary Supervisor/Cook to join the culinary team at Lookout Ridge Retirement Community. Working in consultation with the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Supervisor serves as the department’s second in command, supporting the Dietary Manager with the day-to-day management and administrative functions. In addition, this role prepares meals for our residents in accordance with all required food safety regulations. Shifts include breakfast 5:30 am to 1:30 pm, Dinner 10:30 am - 6:30 pm and midday shift 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
**Skills and Competencies Required for this Position**:
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to perform administrative functions, product ordering, and inventory management
- Leads by example and supervises the Dietary team with effective problem solving and process coordination needed to meet meal requirements
- Ability to prioritize work and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Possess efficient time management skills and be able to multi-task
- Possess strong communication skills to deal with others effectively.
- Previous experience with meal preparation in a restaurant or institutional setting preferred. (Red Seal Certification and Culinary Diploma preferred).
- Must demonstrate a commitment to resident meal service.
- Ability to meet or exceed the physical demands of the position.
- Must be capable of following written and oral directions.
- Be flexible in routine and assist in other areas as required.
- Valid, current safe food handling certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Understand safe food handling practices to minimize risk of cross contamination.
- Must be capable of safe operation of commercial equipment required in performing duties.
- Must be available to work weekday and weekend shifts as required, stat holidays also if scheduled to work.
- Demonstrate the ability to always maintain confidentiality and display an understanding of professional guidelines required when dealing with residents.
- Must Enjoy working with a senior population
- Basic WHMIS instruction required, as well as annual updates.
- Hours per bi-weekly pay period: 75, year round employment
