The role will configure, install, support, and maintain the Faculty of Education's workstations, software, classroom technology and other devices. The Media Technician will ensure the appropriate security, backup, and recovery procedures are implemented, and prepare any related documentation. The role will assist in coordinating and deploying hardware and software upgrades, and serve as a first point of contact, facilitating the administration of the Faculty of Education's help desk and ticket process. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - 2 year community college diploma in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or related field - Certification in network security architecture, information technology infrastructure, or related field is preferred **Experience**: - 2 years experience working with a variety of operating systems, providing hardware and software installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting - Experience with networking using workstations, laptops, mobile devices and servers - Experience working with Microsoft System Centre, Active Directory, and JIRA preferred - Experience working with Crestron audio-visual hardware and other classroom technology is preferred - Experience supporting and troubleshooting the Brightspace Learning Management System is preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to the field (e.g. ITIL4, DevOps) - Familiarity with audio/visual equipment and technologically enhanced classrooms, equipment and software - Computer skills with the ability to creatively use and integrate technology to improve quality and productivity - Computer skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users - Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support - Verbal and written communication skills with an ability to document technical information - Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation - Ability to process information with a high degree of accuracy, and follow formal business practices with high attention to detail - Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment - Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands - Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, faculty members, students and the public - Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community Intermediate proficiency required in Microsoft Office**Union Statement**: **Western Values Diversity**: Accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process.
