Our upcoming restaurant located in the heart of Esquimalt, BC, is seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. Our restaurant is committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and innovative culinary techniques.
As a Pastry Chef at Janevca, you will have the opportunity to showcase your creativity and passion for pastry arts while contributing to the development of our dessert menu, bakery offerings, and wood-fired pizzas.
**Responsibilities**:
- Create and prepare a wide variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods in accordance with restaurant standards and guest preferences.
- Develop and execute innovative and seasonal dessert menus that complement our culinary offerings and reflect current food trends.
- Oversee the daily operation of the pastry kitchen, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Train and mentor pastry kitchen staff, ensuring consistent quality and presentation of all pastry items.
- Prepare and manage the production of bread and doughs for wood-fired pizzas, ensuring freshness and quality.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure seamless integration of pastry offerings and wood-fired pizzas with the overall menu concept.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Baker, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of pastry arts, techniques, and ingredients.
- Strong creativity and ability to develop unique and visually appealing dessert presentations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institution is preferred.
