As part of the Experience Design Team, the UX/UI Design Lead will be accountable for delivering digital user experiences designed to meet customer needs. Utilizing research and solid understanding of user centered design principles, the UX/UI Design Lead works with Product Development teams and members of the Experience Design Team to deliver innovative customer focused solutions for various products and services at Ontario Health (OH).

Reporting to the Manager, Experience Design, and working closely with product and business teams, the Lead will consult on UX best practices and processes that support the Customer Experience Strategy for OH. As the UX/UI Designer you will contribute to promoting quality and consistency of UX/UI designs by creating user centered, compelling and intuitive user experiences. You will develop user flows, wireframes and hi-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes to effectively communicate user interactions and design ideas, including creating and maintaining the UX patterns library and product brand guidelines & specifications.

Here is what you will be doing:
Stakeholder and relationship management- Consult various stakeholders on assigned projects. Follow the internal UX design process to get the job done on time, with quality and accurate translation of business and user needs, and product brand guidelines & specifications.- Lead design review sessions with project teams, acquiring consensus, getting approvals on designs, and challenging teams to create a cohesive user experience.

CX Program Delivery- Develop an understanding of the Ontario government’s Digital Service Standards and supporting processes to adhere to the standard across any assigned projects or digital products.- In collaboration with other members of the UX Team, develop and maintain UX design patterns, product brand guidelines & specifications and product UX design framework.- Demonstrate good understanding and practices of UX design principles, UX research methodologies, UI design and usability guidelines through strong hands-on experience and a compelling portfolio.- Work closely with the UX Team Lead and other members of the UX Design Team to develop compelling user experiences across OH platforms including what options to present to stakeholders and making final decisions between competing designs to align with the UX vision and with the long-term product roadmap.

User Research- Be highly involved in UX Research along with Product Owner(s) and Client Engagement where client users will experience the product offering.- Must have the ability to establish UX Research (testing) criteria and UX Research goals, assess outcomes and work with project teams to adjust UX/UI to meet the needs of the users.- Recommend UX Research methodologies and produce supporting artifacts including sketches and prototypes to support UX Research when required.- Communicate user interactions and user interface behavior for consumption by the Development and Quality Assurance teams through creation of the product brand guidelines & specifications.

Product Design- Create wireframes, low & hi-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes in accordance with the UX design framework and product brand guidelines & specifications.- Execute interaction and UI design as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.- Must have an exceptional eye for detail and passion for quality.- Ability to translate business and user requirements into streamlined screens/User Flows that support desirable user experience.- Collaborate with a core team of various design disciplines and content writers.- Design, polish and strive for a consistent, coherent and accessible OH experiences across all digital products and services.- Ensure every piece of information and data surfaced on UI is useful and relevant to users’ needs.- Rationalize solutions and effectively communicate ideas and designs via Sitemaps, User Flows, Wireframes, Prototypes and high-fidelity mock-ups.- Champion Customer Journey Maps and User Flows on which to build user experience design solutions for the product while maintaining the defined product design guidelines.- Create, maintain and validate UX artifacts such as Customer Journey Maps, User Personas, User Scenarios, Information Architecture, User Flows and Prototypes.-
- Engage stakeholders (internal and external) in UX Research and product design to align on product UX strategy with multiple cross-functional teams.- Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Analysts, Product Owners and Product Managers to implement desired user experience.- Understand and promote Agile framework and methodologies.- Keep abreast of UX industry development and new technologies.
