Under the general direction of the Power Trading Analytics Section Head, the Power Trading Analyst team is responsible for
providing detailed analytical support to the Wholesale Power Trading (WPT) department through market supply and pricing analysis,
load forecasting, model development and calibration, deal analysis, development of reporting tools, compliance monitoring and
reporting, market and transmission monitoring. The team is also responsible for the development, maintenance and continuous
market sites and portals.
WPT is open for business 24 hours a day, seven days per week. The Power Trading Analysts work a modified work schedule to
support WPT activities. The Power Trading Analysts must be prepared to work flexible hours as required to meet market conditions.
**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Occupy Manitoba Hydro's Local Security Administrator (LSA) role and related system administration responsibilities with all
wholesale electricity markets (MISO, IESO, AESO, SPP), trading platforms and systems (OATI, ICE, etc.) including the
creation and maintenance of portal user accounts, access rights, and digital certificates.

performing acceptance testing.
- Foster and maintain relationships with Vendors (such as OATI) and key internal and external service providers to ensure
services continue to support Manitoba Hydro's optimization of assets and maximization of profits in a cost-effective manner.
This activity includes collaborating with users to define and document business requirements, prototyping potential
enhancements to existing analytical tools and systems, negotiating with vendors for software service enhancements and new
products, participating on internal/external working groups such as OATI's webTrader Steering Committee, and
budgeting/payment of software licenses and services.
- Participate and contribute to the development, evaluation, and refinement of all trading strategies for short
- term, day ahead,
and real time electricity markets and related financial products.
- Conduct market analysis and prepare reports on an ad hoc basis in support of management and the enterprise.
- Calibrate, back-test, and refine regression, optimization, and simulation models and tools in order to generate price forecasts
- for short term energy purchases and sales and annual/monthly MISO and IESO FTR purchase/sale decisions.- Determine Manitoba day-ahead load forecast by calibrating and refining a number of complex models to account for a wide
- range of system and weather conditions.- Extract and analyze relevant market data including market prices and volatility, transmission system constraints, generation
- outages, weather forecasts throughout the region, and after the fact price and volume data.- Produce WPT's daily Profit & Loss position report utilized by management to monitor and assess trading strategy performance
and associated risks.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- A four-year Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or Engineering from a university of recognized standing, plus a minimum
of six years of directly related experience.
OR
- A recognized Professional Accounting or Financial Designation with a minimum of five years of directly related experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian and U.S. wholesale electricity markets and Manitoba Hydro's interconnected power
