**Who we are looking for**

This role reports to the Associate Vice President of Finance and involves managing day-to-day accounting operations for Make Space, coordinating the annual audit, and overseeing a team of accountants. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, bank reporting, and remittances. They will also establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and accounting systems, as well as monitor cash positions and conduct cash flow forecasting and budgeting across a portfolio of companies.

The position is hybrid; we expect our finance team to report to the office 2-3+ days per week, especially while training. We believe teamwork is essential, and working together will help build strong relationships and foster an environment where we can support each other.

**Roles & Responsibilities**
- Leading and managing the financial reporting processes to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Reviewing reconciliations for various companies across the portfolio and month-end results
- Overseeing taxes, including reviewing simple tax corporate returns and all monthly sales tax returns
- Acting as the primary point of contact with financial institutions
- Improving processes and procedures
- Preparing reporting packages for lenders, investors, and other stakeholders
- Lead Month End Meetings with the Senior Leadership
- Willing to roll up your sleeves to get the job done and help your team.
- Cover your team and counterparts for vacations and time off.
- Present the financial conditions, cash flow and monthly financial position to the Executive Team.
- Providing regular cash position reporting and internal forecasting
- Coordinating the year-end audit and preparing audited financial statements
- Coordinating all other customer and government audits
- Recommend and implement new processes, policies, and automation to enhance accuracy and meet deadlines.
- Mentoring, Coaching and Performance Management of team.
- Managing a team of 5-10+ accountants
- Other related duties as required or assigned.

**Skills & Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent.
- CPA Designation Required
- 5 + years of experience in a senior-level finance role
- 5 years of managing an accounting team.
- Strong technical accounting and proficiency.
- Strong people management skills, motivating and coaching team members
- Highly organized, with demonstrated problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Proven ability to effectively handle and prioritize multiple and complex projects
- Adapt to changing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience integrating new processes, systems, and automation.
- Proficient in spoken and written English is required; bilingual French is considered an asset.
- High level of integrity, diligence, and accountability
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Experience with an investment, mutual, or private equity fund beneficial but not required
- Some travel to BC and Ontario Regional Offices required, less than 10%

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
