Job Summary

A Brief Overview

This position oversees the training of teaching assistants within the laboratory, and supports them through the delivery of their courses. This position conceptualizes, researches, develops, tests and updates laboratory experiments. This position develops and enforces lab safety policies, procedures, and protocols, and performs equipment inspections on safety apparatus and protective equipment. This position also maintains lab equipment, ensuring good working order of existing equipment, coordinating repairs and ensuring equipment meets necessary specifications.

**Job Description**:
What you will do
Oversees the training of teaching assistants within the laboratory, and supports them through the delivery of their courses.

Observes the teaching of courses within the laboratory, including responding to student questions.

Conceptualizes, researches, develops, tests and updates laboratory experiments.

Develops and enforces lab safety policies, procedures, and protocols, and performs equipment inspections on safety apparatus and protective equipment.

Catalogues inventories and lab samples, and maintains equipment reservation and use logs.

Maintains lab equipment, ensuring good work order of existing equipment, coordinating repairs and ensuring equipment meets necessary specifications.

Replenishes supplies, samples and/or instructional materials. Required Education
Master's Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires a professional designation, certification, or other qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields. Required Experience
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Contribute to the creation and evaluation of possible solutions.

Take action to remove obstacles and address problems before the impact performance and results.

Promote a work environment that is free from sexual violence, harassment and discrimination, and the ability to show empathy for those who have experienced trauma.

Monitor and assess output and the quality of work from team members and recommend need for formal training or development plans to management and identify possible performance and/or disciplinary issues.
