**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Manager, implements and maintains the Corporate network infrastructure and network functionality; provides functional guidance to division staff and Corporate or departmental clients as it relates to Technology Services enhanced solutions and the resolution of technical problems. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure; configuring and maintaining network functionality and operation; providing for network access; ensuring network security through risk assessment and counter measure implementation; ensuring maximization of investment in the Corporate network; and providing a network infrastructure that meets current and future needs.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Implements and maintains network infrastructure equipment, including but not limited to switches, routers, and hubs; ensures operating system interfaces are up-to-date; makes recommendations on equipment replacements or expansions.
- Designs, implements, and maintains network access infrastructure devices and services, including but not limited to, Dial-in, VPN, Firewall, Internet Security, Wireless, Authentication, Intrusion Prevention/Detection and Antivirus; designs, implements, and maintains all aspects of network infrastructure security; performs network security risk assessment.
- Implements and maintains all aspects of network functionality, including but not limited to, routing, routing protocols, VLANs, Sub-netting, switching, DHCP, DNS, and WINS.
- Designs, implements, and maintains network-to-network integration to facilitate electronic communication with external parties.
- Monitors and analyzes network performance and utilization; takes corrective action as required.
- Participates in client and partner support at a Tier 2 level**; **documents and provides Tier 1 Section staff with resolution to facilitate future client support opportunities.
- Works with Corporate clients on network infrastructure initiatives.
- Participates or leads in researching, planning, determining resource allocation, evaluating network infrastructure solutions, providing recommendations, determining client and technology requirements, and developing infrastructure specifications and cost effective solutions as it relates to project management-related activities.
- Documents all aspects of network infrastructure through the use of network design documents, physical and logical network diagrams, and standard operating procedures; ensures documentation is up-to-date and changes are reflected; provides updates and keeps Section staff aware of all network infrastructure changes.
- Works with Section staff to deliver seamless network solutions to clients.
- Maintains effective and cooperative liaison with clients, staff, vendors, suppliers, service providers, and staff in other organizations; maintains a high standard of public relations at all times.
- Keeps abreast of new and converging network technologies; makes recommendations for improved network performance, availability, security, and efficiencies.
- Participates in Corporate-wide and cross-functional teams as required.
- Performs the duties of other Networks, Technology & Cloud Services positions as required.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**
- Degree in computer science, software engineering, or information systems, together with three years’ recent experience with networking equipment, routing, switching, and network functionality; or
- Diploma relating to computer networking and technical support, together with five years’ recent experience working with networking equipment, routing, switching, and network functionality; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Strong technical knowledge of networking equipment, protocols and standards including IP networks, switches routers and Firewalls
- Knowledge of Business Applications, Software Development and the Systems Development/Maintenance Lifecycle
- Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing; with the ability to present ideas in a business
