**Reporting Relationship**: The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Director of Accounting.

**Job Summary**: Birchwood is looking for a dedicated, experienced, and enthusiastic Assistant Controller. As part of the Birchwood Accounting Services team, and reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, the Assistant Controller will play an integral role in our dealership, ancillary, and shared services accounting teams.

The Assistant Controller is responsible for working with our Controller group on a variety of different fronts including financial reporting, accounting, and controls of all aspects of our business. The Assistant Controller will also be asked to work with the Controller group to look for opportunities to enhance current processes, solve problems, and develop new strategies that create efficiencies within the department and the greater group.

**What you will do**:

- Support the Controller Group in executing the financial reporting, accounting procedures, and process enhancements of Birchwood’s various operations including:

- Month end reporting,
- Banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash flow management,
- Controls, operational financial functions
- Budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Communicate with the Controllers and operations managers on a variety of financial aspects and functions of their operations;
- Develop, enhance, create efficiencies and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and gain efficiencies;
- Resolve escalated client service issues and strengthen relationships with stakeholders throughout Birchwood.
- Foster a client-driven and the can-do environment with a hands-on approach to delivering key initiatives.

Qualifications: What you need to be successful:

- CPA designation in the field of accounting, related post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience with assurance and auditing
- Proven leadership skills, including the ability to successfully delegate to, motivate, lead, teach and mentor team members.
- High attention to detail, proven time management, and organizational skills
- Comfort leveraging technology for most day-to-day functions.
- Exceptional communication skills & ability to thrive in a collaborate environment.
- Clear criminal background check
- Valid driver's license and own transportation to work are required.
