**Sun Life Retail Advice & Solutions (RA&S)** is one of the leading financial institutions in Canada that offers Canadians holistic advice and innovative solutions including insurance, wealth and health through a team of digitally-enabled and insights-driven human advisors.
**What will you do?**:
**Strategic planning**
- Drive RA&S Leadership Team strategic agenda to reflect on execution progress and dynamically adapt strategy
- Develop 5-year strategic plan and run planning process on behalf of RA&S leadership through collaboration with RA&S Finance and Canada Strategy team
- In collaboration with the RA&S Advanced Analytics & BI, identify and report on key metrics aligned to the strategic plan, and develop recommendations to address areas of concern and/or new opportunities
- Develop strategic roadmap and identify execution implications by working with Business Architecture team to determine business capabilities required in the medium-term horizon
**Strategy project delivery**
- Review strategic issues and new opportunities to address / pursue through fact-based analysis, decision support, and implementation ready strategies and tactics
- Lead execution of strategy projects and manage coordination of project delivery across functions
- Adapt plan and prioritize requests as necessary to meet project objectives while ensuring timely delivery and achievable scope
- Partner with Canada Strategy team to work on projects that have cross business unit implications
- Translate strategy to execution by working with teams across RA&S and Sun Life Canada
- Manage strategy project pipeline and prioritize to align with overall RA&S business objectives
**Advisor compensation effectiveness**
- Accountable for overall effectiveness and benefits realization of SLFD advisor compensation by continuously monitoring outcomes and adapting design as needed to ensure ongoing strategic alignment
- Partner with operations, technology and change management functions to implement changes to the advisor compensation design and upgrades to the underlying compensation systems and tools
- Manage compensation governance groups and engagement with business stakeholders to align on design changes and assess downstream implications to compensation from other programs and initiatives
**Competitive intelligence and market awareness**
- Actively build and maintain awareness of key market and competitive trends and developments
- Drive thought leadership to curate external market information, translate into relevant insights and surface patterns / themes that are relevant for RA&S
- Identify implications for RA&S and proactively communicate / share with relevant stakeholders
- Communication and relationship management
- Effectively communicate key insights, ideas and strategies, to an executive level audience and advisors / field leaders in a clear, compelling and concise manner
- Proactively stay in touch with internal partners to maintain an understanding of new developments in their areas
- Tailor both written and verbal communication based on audience and situation to maximize buy-in and establish productive working relationships
**Team management and other accountabilities**
- Lead and coach a diverse and high performing team through proactive career development and continuous feedback loop
- Actively promote RA&S brand and community image to attract talent and external partners
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and policy requirements
**What do you need to succeed?**:
- Minimum of 10 years relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, wealth management, sales & distribution and / or other financial services
- Strategy / management consulting experience preferred
- Experience in analyzing and solving complex business problems with creativity, critical thinking and strong business and financial acumen
- Experience in leading high performing teams and professional knowledge workers
- Experience in financial and quantitative analysis, including using modelling tools and techniques, would be an asset
- Experience in conducting in-depth secondary research, including collection and synthesis; some experience with primary research would be an asset
