**Description**:
We are seeking an experienced Grants Officer to join the Research Services team at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI).
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop award nomination dossiers including drafting nomination letters.
- Manage and coordinate the submission of final activity reports of institutional grants to funding agencies.
- Manage the manuscript checklist process, including managing internal rapid review and institutional sign off prior to manuscript submissions to journals. The key aspects of the manuscript pre-submission checklist include authorship and authors’ responsibilities, conformation to research ethics requirements/approval, addressing conflicts of interest, attestation of the accuracy of information and posting of source data.
- Responsible for tracking research impact metrics.
- Assist in research promotion activities such as drafting research profiles and other promotional materials.
- Support to team members in event planning and project management for conferences and events.
- Assist in additional activities, as called upon, including contributing to institutional reports.
**Required**:
- University degree in a health, biomedical or natural sciences field. Asset: Recent completion of the CARA-Mohawk College Certificate of Research Administration.
- A minimum three to five years recent work experience in a similar role.
- Expert knowledge of health research funding agencies, academic research organizations, and the principles and methods of research administration and granting program management.
- Knowledge of research/peer reviewed publication best practices.
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency with granting agency software and programs (e.g., ResearchNet, Common CV), computer software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe) and web-based platforms and social media (e.g., Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, etc.).
- High level of resourcefulness, initiative and prioritization to function effectively with mínimal supervision.
- Highly motivated and creative to meet the challenges within a fast paced and busy environment; ability to handle high pressure situations and meet strict deadlines.
- Works for the overall success of the team and the Institute, helps others, leaves the ego at the door, not seeking personal credit.
- Excellent time management, punctuality, reliability and flexibility.
