This job opportunity is suited for someone looking to work on a rotation ( VERY flexible rotation 3 days on 3 off - 2 weeks on 2 off ) Matcon is looking to fill this position with an **expert** excavator operator with experience in **ALL** heavy equipment operations. This position is ideal for retired or semi retired persons looking for meaningful work with a great company.

**Matcon Excavation & Shoring Ltd** is one of the Lower Mainland's leading and most highly respected construction companies. Due to continued growth within our Infrastructure, Civil, Excavation and Demolition Divisions, we are currently seeking experienced applicants for an **Excavator Operator **position.
- **Experience in Excavation Construction is a requirement.**_

Applicants Are responsible for maintaining equipment, including pre-trips, inspections, maintaining fluid levels, and small repairs.

**Operator Requirements**:

- Completing all tasks safely
- Backfilling and hoe packing
- Bulk excavation and truck loading
- Coordinating with the Foreman
- Shoveling tracks as required
- Operators should also be well adapted to all types of adverse conditions such as extreme weather, project schedules, congested work spaces, etc.

**Essential Job Functions**:

- Be a team player
- Proven experience operating several types of equipment (excavator, bulldozer, front end loader, telehandler, skid steer, etc.)
- Maintenance/ daily paperwork
- Legal loading of trucks - from stock pile & in-situ
- Safe excavation slopes, etc.
- Site organization and able to keep site neat
- Understanding of handling
- Different soil types in wet & dry weather
- Understanding of grades
- Access and egress of site for trucks
- Bulk excavations, main line trenching, backfilling, hoe packing and hoe ramming‍
- Be able to recognize safety issues
- Must Contain a valid drivers license and be able to get to and from the job sites

Matcon works with the CLAC union and all new employees become members upon joining the company. Included in the remuneration perks are a safety gear allowance, RRSP (matched and unmatched), insurance benefits and holiday pay.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

**Salary**: $40.93 per hour
