We are seeking a talented individual to join our Underwriting team at Marsh. This role will be based in Ottawa, Canada. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. As an Associate I- Underwriting, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on delivering innovative insurance solutions to our clients. You will work closely with experienced underwriters and brokers, gaining exposure to a variety of insurance products and risk management strategies.

We will count on you to:

- Identify opportunities to offer solutions to existing client/broker accounts by evaluating applicant situations and determining insurance risk.
- Review and analyze submissions independently.
- Examine risk of loss by studying rate tables, codes, computer records, and references to determine appropriate terms and conditions for coverage.
- Issue insurance policies by calculating premium rates, negotiating treaty and facultative terms, describing insurable conditions, and specifying exclusions and endorsements.
- Deny insurance policies by identifying loss predictions and forwarding recommendations.
- Assist with identifying new business opportunities to generate new accounts while maintaining a book of existing business.

- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, brokers, and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Professional certifications or coursework in insurance or risk management.
