Position: Prep Cook

Wage: $18-22 per hour plus tip

Toast to Coast is a newest brunch restaurant located in the historic village of Steveston. We are now looking for Prep Cooks to join our growing brunch crew. We are proud to offer our staff competitive wages, internal growth opportunities and more

The Prep Cook will be responsible for setting up the prep station, stocking inventory and maintaining sanitation standards. The position will ensure that all ingredients are prepared to the exact specifications according to our recipes. The Prep Cook will play an essential role along with the rest of our BOH crew in creating high-quality dishes and delivering guest satisfaction.

**Your typical day would look like**:

- Preparing a variety of components of each dish on the menu from chopping vegetables to preparing sauces
- Ensuring the prep station and the kitchen are cleaned, setup and stocked to our standards
- Cooking menu items according to our recipes and assisting the Chef during service
- Performing routine daily tasks, including prep charts, cleaning checklists and temperature logs
- Receiving and inspecting all deliveries and reporting any issues to the General Manager
- Making sure food preparation and storage areas meet our health and safety standards
- Ensuring the cleanliness of our BOH areas

**Key requirements**:

- 1+ years of experience in a similar position and environment
- FoodSafe certification
- In-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods
- Culinary training and/or Red Seal certification is an asset
- Capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, handling high volume while maintaining high standards and consistency
- Passion for cooking with desire to learn and grow
- Team player with a guest-first mindset
- Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task
- Ability to communicate well in English
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift moderate amounts of weight
- Must have weekend morning/brunch availability
- Must have valid proof of Social Insurance Number and be legal to work in Canada with proof as a Canadian citizen, PR or valid work permit

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
