The Wood Worker/Carpenter will be required to work in a team environment as well as on their own, setting up, operating and maintaining woodworking machines, such as planers, skill saws, planers, Air Nailers, staplers and saws to cut, plane, shape and sand wood to the required shape and size. Incumbents will be responsible for the accurate and timely construction, erection, installation and repair of custom components made of wood, wood substitutes and other materials. Specific duties include:
Read plans and specifications to determine the requirements of the job

Cut materials with hand and power tools, and assemble or nail, cut and shape parts

Attach guides and other fittings to machines with clamps or bolts

Adjust stops, guides, rollers and the angle and height of the table

Select the direction and speed of rotation of wood to produce smooth finishes

Adjust parts to make sure that the work meets with requirements

Check work to ensure accuracy

Clean machines and work areas
