As a Financial Controller, you will be someone who uses their past work experience working in small to medium companies to analyze and understand what needs to be done on our accounting team and you will be proactive enough complete it - even without being asked. You don’t require a lot of direction (although the door is open if you need it), and you don’t shy away from asking questions.

This role will be instrumental in sustaining VersaFile’s rapid revenue growth and will offer you opportunity to be an instrumental part of a 3-person accounting team where you can grow your own skillset. Reporting into the CEO, this is a Senior Position and you will be responsible for managing a team consisting of an Intermediate Staff Accountant and a Junior Staff Accountant.

**Your Impact as a Financial Controller**:

- Manage a full-cycle accounting process which includes: bookkeeping, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cheque issuing, bank reconciliation, credit card payment, and financial statements preparation.
- Overseeing financial and accounting functions as well as payroll
- Supporting operations as a functional accountant
- Preparing tax filings for Canada and the US on a quarterly/annual basis (eg. GST, PST, EHT, WCB, State franchise/excise tax)
- Intercompany transfer pricing billing and reconciliation
- Performing GL account analysis and assist with budget preparation
- Respond to and resolve inquiries and issues related to financial reporting; provide financial accounting analysis & support for operational transactions and budget & forecast activities.
- Manage job costing, projecting costing and other project related tracking activities
- Ensuring policies, procedures and financial obligations are implemented and adhered to
- Ensure accuracy of accounting records and invoices; review accuracy of expense classification on invoices based on local legislation.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Assist with month end journal entries, reporting and reconciliation.
- Help and support with financial reporting, budgets, cash flow, financial statements, and other pertinent financial activities.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end financial trial balances and lead sheets.
- Manage and initiate purchase orders for our manufacturing cycle
- Work with vendors, banks, accounts and employees to ensure accounting procedures are met

**Skills You'll Bring**:

- Canadian Payroll experience
- Required experience and knowledge of QuickBooks Online software,
- Experience with multi-currency environment and sales tax filings in the US is an asset
- Strong proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ideally worked with a couple of direct reports such as AP or AR
- Excellent accounting and technical skills with attention to detail and drive for accuracy

**Required Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- CPA designation is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting experience
