We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Shipping Supervisor to join our team. As a Shipping Supervisor, you will oversee the shipping department and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of products to our customers. This is a crucial role in our organization, as it directly impacts customer satisfaction and overall business success.
- **Duties**:_
- Oversees and manages all day-to-day activities of the Shipping and Receiving personnel, Drivers, Service and housekeeping staff to ensure the effective and timely execution of objectives.
- Manages the performance of direct reports and provides feedback, motivates, coaches, recommends training, and conducts performance management reviews to develop team members to ensure optimal job performance and maximize growth opportunities for employees.
- Develops departmental KPIs and Metrics to ensure business and departmental objectives are being met.
- Develops a strong, cross trained, department that aligns with Vinylbilt’s strategic goals and business plan.
- Ensures all SOPs are current, staff are trained in their use, and are followed while also identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies.
- Directs and oversees movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas and loading and unloading of trucks.
- Oversees the pallet manufacturing process and ensures safety and security of the products.
- Engages in and identifies Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, initiates process and quality initiatives.
- Participates in and/or leads Non-Conformance Investigations.
- Provides leadership to oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Oversees the Inspection of material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
- Responsible for achieving production goals on schedule, meeting quality standards and cost targets.
- Promotes a safe and healthy working environment, including ensuring safe work practices are being followed, and employees are trained and using proper PPE as per company policy and government regulations.
- Ensures products are sequenced and staged in accordance with the shipping or pick up schedule.
- Ensure materials are safely organized and warehoused to allow for the efficient and accurate movement of goods.
- Coordinate with transportation company for on time delivery and return of trailers.
- Maintain proper shipping documentation and trailer fleet tracking.
- Conducts inventory counts and maintains stock of materials.
- Oversees the Inspection of all outgoing and incoming shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies the Plant Manager and Quality Coordinator.
- Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery documents.
- Co-ordinates activities with other work units or departments and works collaboratively with Production Supervisors and Plant Manager.
- Accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision - including treating, documenting and reporting all near-misses, first-aid and accidents immediately.
- Completes Accident Reports and investigates all health and safety incidents in a timely manner ensuring elimination of future risk.
- Collaborates with Customer Service department to ship after care products to customers.
- Supervises and manages department employees, scheduling, vacation, breaks, attendance, performance, labour forecasting, overtime, progressive discipline.
- Attends daily production meetings.
- In collaboration with the Plant Manager and Human Resources, manages aspects of staffing for the department; hiring, lay-offs, recalls and progressive discipline.
- Ensure all Drivers always have the appropriate logbooks with the vehicles.
- Ensures the timely inspections and maintenance of all trucks.
- Attends daily production meetings.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills, leads by example and is accountable for all areas of the department.
- Communicates departments’ status and escalates issues to Plant Manager accordingly.
- Other duties as assigned.
- **Qualifications**:_

3-5 years purchasing and Shipping/Receiving experience in a manufacturing environment (window manufacturing experience an asset).

Working knowledge of Fenevision or any ERP system is an asset.

High School Diploma.

Superior leadership skills with a strong ability to empower, motivate, and coach employees.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to lift 50 pounds when required.

Mechanical aptitude and proficient computer skills (MS Office, time and attendance system).
