**About the Job**
We are looking for a contract Compost Site Supervisor at our Walker Compost & Packaging Facility office in Arthur, ON.
Reporting directly to the Compost Operations Manager, the Compost Site Supervisor will assist in coordinating and overseeing site operations at the All Treat Farms compost site. The incumbent will assist in the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as warranted, and troubleshoot operational issues. Planning the workload of the compost operations team to maximize efficiencies and effectively control costs, the incumbent ensures that work is completed within environmental Health & Safety policies, procedures and legislation.
This is a temporary eighteen (18) month contract, running from approximately January/2026 to July/2027.
**What you will be doing**:
- Provide daily oversight and supervision of compost shift supervisors, heavy equipment operators and grounds labourers.- Assist compost department with inventory management and planning, taking an active role in inventory tracking processes.- Assist in the creation of work schedules to fulfill operational needs and maximize efficiencies, troubleshooting any operational issues as required.- Mentor, train and provide clear direction to compost shift supervisors and staff on production goals, equipment utilization, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training requirements.- Investigate and report accidents, incidents and near-misses in collaboration with the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), providing management with recommendations for corrective measures.- Participate in Environmental Audits and assist with processes to prevent off site environmental impacts, ensuring staff compliance to all environmental policies.- Coordinate hourly hiring process, in collaboration with site management.- Provide daily, weekly and/or monthly reports for operations, Health & Safety and Environmental Performance, and support annual reporting requirements.- Notify management of any adverse conditions affecting site operations in a timely manner.- Other duties as assigned.
**Here’s What You Need**:
- Advanced degree of initiative and judgment in order to organize, prioritize and supervise daily operations.- Ability to plan and oversee the varied workload of the operations team and provide constructive performance feedback.- Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with colleagues including management, contractors and sub contractors.- Demonstrated understanding of quality standards relative to operation supervision.- Proficiency in Oracle, Excel and Word required.- Minimum high school education, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Post secondary education in environmental science or engineering is an asset.- 1-3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a composting or soil production environment.- Strong organizational and time management skills in order to organize and prioritize tasks daily.- Good problem solving skills to identify and resolve routine issues.- Courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers.- Must possess a valid G-Class Driver’s License.
