What Does a Legal Assistant Do?
Perform corporate, clerical, and administrative duties for the in-house legal team
Administer compliance procedures and other policies and processes for which Legal Department is responsible
Prepare, organize, and file legal documentation and correspondence
Process outside legal accounts for payment, including review, internal circulation, account coding, and requisitioning cheques
Maintain records and populating databases
Communicate with internal clients and external counsel and agents
Assist in share and asset purchase transactions
Maintain bring-forward system to ensure that all filing renewals and other deadlines are met in a timely manner
Obtain corporate, PPSA, partnership and bankruptcy searches, and summarizing results in reports to internal colleagues
