Janitor

SCOPE

Reports to the Environmental Manager. Following established policies and procedures, and in accordance with applicable Codes and Regulations, performs cleaning services and routine minor repairs to assist in maintaining the Home in a clean and safe manner. Ensure residents safety by following established policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Following specific procedures, work patterns and routines, performs tasks such as: mixing solutions for nursing and housekeeping staff, receiving and delivering supplies, garbage collection, removal and recycling, all Home floor care as outlined, heavy cleaning duties such as deep cleaning, window and wall cleaning, carpets, light fixtures and vents Ensures privacy of residents during performance of duties
- Performs cleaning in lobby, service area, elevator lobbies and offices in lobby areas, cleaning of Café area, cleaning of elevators and stairwells, delivers linen and personal laundry carts to each unit
- Adheres to established department policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment and infection control
- Cooperates with other departments in such tasks as transferring residents, moving and storing supplies, and moving furniture and equipment
- Participates in Home meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs

Maintains required records and information as directed. Advises supervisor of inventory of chemicals and supplies
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONS

Extensive standing and walking. Considerable reaching, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders and moving equipment. May be exposed to hazards from use of tools and power equipment. Exposure to biochemical substances and weather conditions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Previous experience and knowledge of chemicals and cleaning equipment preferred

Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: From $19.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Newmarket, ON L3Y 8V7: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Cleaning: 1 year (preferred)
- janitorial: 1 year (preferred)
