Technical Operations Manager

As a Technical operations manager you will support a team that works 24/7 operationally. What does this mean in terms of scheduling?. This means that you are expected to work operationally flexible hours and support every member of your team, some of whom will be working on weekends and overnight shifts. You will have direct reports reaching out to you in emergency situations which are outside of normal working hours.
You will typically work 37.5 hours a week on average and with the support/advice from the Director, Media Engineering and Technical Operations determine the best approach to scheduling to
**WHAT'S THE DAY TO DAY LIKE?**
- V&E Technical Operations Manager has a passion for Video Media and expertise in leading, motivating and engaging their team and non-direct reports.
- Responsible for the 24/7 management and organization of various TWN Operational positions which include the technical team of Media Engineers and MCR Operators. This position is also responsible for training other departments from an operational perspective such as Media Producers, production editors, camera operators and VJs.
- Develop and maintain a highly motivated and productive team to meet fiscal objectives and deadlines through the effective hiring, coaching, and training while fostering a team-environment that is Win-Win.
- Provide ongoing employee feedback and communication. Work with the team to create a performance culture. Responsible for addressing employee issues and concerns as they arise.
- Responsible for scheduling staff (i.e. vacation time and sick leave) and submitted to DayForce in a timely manner.
- Create and implement policies and procedures that relate to the technical operations. Ensure these policies and procedures are understood, communicated and carried out by all employees.
- Recommend workflow changes when necessary, to improve the overall day-to-day operations.
- Establish and maintain standards for technical operations and execution.
- Manage QA programs by performing quality control and monitor production KPIs.
- Develop and implement optimal and efficient use of technical equipment.
- Become fully knowledgeable of all Technical equipment. Make sure that all Operators of the equipment are properly trained to operate the equipment properly. Coordinate with Traffic, Production, Graphics and the Programming department to successfully execute TWN Programming to air.
- Responsible for communicating any workflow and operational changes to all related staff in terms of process changes.
- Responsible for managing and adhering to budgets.
- Responsible for the Health and Safety of the team.

**We Are Hoping You Have**
- Degree or Diploma in Broadcasting, Communications or Media Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in a management role
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in a technical environment (switching, editing, etc.)
- Minimum 3 years of post-production work is preferred
- Excellent understanding of technical broadcast equipment and a digital environment
- Knowledge of the broadcasting standards and systems
- Knowledge of TWN’s programming is also preferred
- Knowledge of non-linear editing is an essential
- Bilingual (English and French) would be an asset
- Strong Leadership and coaching skills

**Salary**: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
