**Summer Program Assistant**
**(8 week contract)**

The Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library is a community-focused, single-branch Library serving a diverse population of 42,800. The community includes urban and rural areas with most of the population centered in town, which is on the edge of the GTA and adjacent to the Holland Marsh. Easily accessible from Highways 400, 27 and 11, Bradford is a growing community with an increasing demand for library services.

Reporting to the Manager of Community Engagement, the role is responsible for working with the programming team to assist in the delivery of summer programs for children and teens.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Create and facilitate innovative programs for children.
- Assist with the promotion, planning and implementing of the Summer Reading Club.
- Assist with outreach sessions with groups within the community.
- Ensure programming supplies are on hand by identifying and organizing such materials and resources.
- Assist with the collection and analysis of statistics, using Microsoft Office and Google Drive products.

**Key Competencies and Qualifications**
- Completed at least two years of secondary school education.
- One (1) year of experience working with children and an interest in children’s literature.
- Demonstrated interest in the visual or performing arts.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize the Microsoft suite.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.
- Ability to complete a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.

The position offers an hourly rate of $17.05 (CUPE Local 905.29 rate). This position is based on a 35 hour work week that includes days, evenings, and weekend shifts as part of a regular schedule.
