GHGSat offers greenhouse gas detection, measurement, and monitoring services to industrial and government customers around the world. We use our own satellites and aircraft sensors, combined with third-party data, to help industrial emitters better understand, control, and reduce their emissions.

The Science and Systems team has a flexible work environment with the option for remote work, but we expect applicants to work partially out of one of our offices with a preference for our offices in Montreal or Ottawa, Canada.

**Key responsibilities**
- Automate the processing of GHGSat data using machine learning techniques
- Design, train, and optimize machine learning models for image classification, object detection, and segmentation
- Rapidly prototype methods and techniques from scientific literature
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify predictive features and insights
- Engage with a range of stakeholders, including domain experts and data validators to improve methodology and model performance
- Collaborate with software developers to deploy models and algorithms into to production

**Essential skills and experience**
- MSc or higher in physics, engineering, theoretical chemistry or biology, math, computational science or related fields
- Strong Python skills
- Ability to document and summarize key insights
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

**Preferred skills and experience**
- Knowledge of probability and statistics
- Experience with image processing and computer vision
- Proficiency using Python machine learning libraries such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, and Sklearn
- Experience handling Remote sensing data
- Experience in collaborative software development (git)
- Experience using and building Docker containers
