Overview:
The HR Generalist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources office for Hard Rock Ottawa. The HR Generalist manages the administration of the human resources policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment.
**Responsibilities**:
- Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for hard and soft skill development, as well as, brand programs including, but not limited to: Brand Induction, Amplified Service, and Leadership Development.
- Employee relations: Functions as an internal consultant to assist management in identifying and resolving team member issues, examining and identifying organizational problems, and engaging and communicating with all levels of the organization.
- Benefits administration: Assist with benefits communications, meetings and practices that best meet the needs of our diverse employee group and the overall goals of the organization.
- Responsible for ensuring that new team member onboarding is complete and an authentic experience that rocks. This includes setting up all benefits such as group health and pension, and providing benefits information to new recruits.
- Conducts informational sessions for new employees (Orientation) and existing employees.
- Conducts themselves in accordance with all regulations, departmental policies, and procedures.
- Uses HRIS database and applicant tracking system frequently to manage and input data.
- Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Provides outstanding customer service to internal and external clients
- Other assignments as directed

Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS
- CHRP designation or working towards designation
- Minimum of 2 years in human resources as a generalist
- Experience in casino and/or hotel environment preferred
- Previous experience in a unionized environment
- Knowledge of HRIS is highly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel
SKILLS
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized
- Must possess solid mathematical skills
- Must be able to have difficult conversation and effectively deal with conflict
- Must be able to communicate effectively with team members
- Must possess ability to comprehend written or verbal basic instructions
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed
- Demonstrates good work ethic being mature, reliable, punctual, with a positive attitude and enthusiastic behaviour
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk distances.
- Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a professional office setting, but there may be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
