_**Position Overview**_

Reporting to the Coordinator of Child and Youth Recreation, this position is responsible for the preparation, organization, facilitation, and daily operations of the Childminding and various other Youth programming, while providing a safe and engaging environment for children ages 6 months to 12 years of age.
- **Duties**_
- Build relationships with the children and their families who participate in programming.
- Entertain, play and interact with children and parents/guardians in a positive manner, ensuring the individual needs of each child are being met.
- Ensure the safety of all children in each program through positive guidance.
- Inform parents/guardians about a child’s behavioral progress in a caring, confidential manner.
- Model appropriate interactions/participation with peers.
- Ensure all required paperwork is on file for participants and sign in/sign out procedures are followed.
- Maintain open communication with families and within the team.
- Complete daily administrative tasks/checklists.
- Attend trainings and meetings, as scheduled and deemed necessary.
- Maintain compliance with all YMCA and government established policies.
- Maintain the facilities, equipment, and supplies in accordance with YMCA and Provincial Standards (law).
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- **Skills & Qualifications**_
- ECE, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, Child Behavior Specialist, or related Degree or Diploma (a strong asset)
- Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of employment
- Contravention not indicated Social Development Check is a condition of employment
- A valid First Aid and CPR Certification
- Knowledge of Early/Middle Childhood Development
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to work flexible hours
- Must be able to provide 2 professional references
- Previous experience working with children is an asset
- Previous experience working in a sports setting or participation in organized sport is an asset
- Knowledge of a variety of sports is an asset
- Bilingualism (French & English) is an asset

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $16.60 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
