- The City of Calgary's Law Department is seeking a Planning Lawyer to join their in-house legal team. As a Planning Lawyer, you will carry out a legal practice that may be a mix of solicitor and barrister work, providing legal advice and opinions with respect to all manner of planning and development-related issues. Primary duties include:

- Draft a wide variety of development-related agreements and land title documents.
- Review, draft and provide advice on planning statutory plans, policies and bylaws.
- Assist various clients with planning-related enforcement matters, including matters under appeal to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board and appearances before the Board.
- Provide legal and strategic advice and opinions on regional planning issues.

**Qualifications**
- Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent degree from a recognized institution and active membership or eligibility for membership with The Law Society of Alberta.
- At least 1 year of experience in municipal or planning law; preference will be given to applicants with at least 3 years of experience.
- Strong drafting and analytical skills are critical for success in this position.
- Experience with commercial real estate and/or land development would be considered an asset.

- Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
