Immigration Lawyer

**Associate Lawyer - Immigration**
Caron & Partners LLP is a leading Calgary law firm with a strong reputation in immigration law. We are seeking a Junior Lawyer to join our Immigration Law Department. This position is ideal for a lawyer with at least 2 years of immigration law experience who is passionate about litigation and advocacy before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Conduct legal research and stay current with case law and immigration policy developments.
- Work closely with clients to elicit relevant details about their cases, ensure accuracy of facts, and assist in drafting supporting narratives and affidavits.
- Prepare clients to testify at hearings, including explaining procedures, addressing credibility concerns, and conducting practice sessions.
- Represent clients in immigration hearings before the IRB, including refugee claims, admissibility and detention matters, and appeals.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers and the immigration team on strategy and client management.

**Qualifications**:

- LL.B. or J.D. and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Canadian immigration law.
- Demonstrated interest in litigation, advocacy, and written/oral submissions.
- Exceptional English language ability, with strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Strong research, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Diligent and detail-oriented, with the ability to prepare thoroughly for hearings and manage complex files.
- Resilient and confident advocate, unafraid to take on challenging cases or appear in demanding tribunal and court settings.
- Highly driven and eager to learn, with a commitment to going beyond the minimum and putting in the effort needed to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to manage competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
- Ability to manage files independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in developing an independent practice over time, even if not yet established.
