**POSITION**: Manager, Annual Giving
**STATUS**: Permanent; Full-Time
**SHIFT**: 35 hours per week (Hybrid)

**About the Position**:
The Manager, Annual Giving leads the Public Engagement & Advancement’s Annual Giving team that manages, plans and implements direct response and stewardship activities for the following portfolios: annual offline, lapsed, new to file, monthly donors, loyal donors, mid-level donors, expectants and allied professionals. This includes supervision, mentorship and guidance to assigned direct reports as well as planning and oversight to ensure appropriate portfolio goals are set and met and that activities are integrated across the department. The Manager also collaborates on strategic fundraising direction as a member of the Public Engagement and Advancement management team.
**Some specific duties**:
Donor Engagement & Fundraising (60%)
Provides direction in line with the strategic plan, for Public Engagement and Advancement’s Annual Giving portfolio including: annual offline, loyal, lapsed, new to file, monthly donors, mid-level donors, expectants and allied professionals including:
Oversees cultivation, solicitation, conversion and upgrades to these portfolios through direct mail and calling channels.
Implements legacy marketing and expectant stewardship
Leads on new program development and innovation within these portfolios.
Leads on portfolio composition
Provides content direction for solicitation and giving materials.
Creates a culture and regular practice of innovation, testing and ongoing optimization within the Annual Giving portfolio.
Manages agency and vendor selection, contracts and relationships for this portfolio.
Ensures the team builds documented processes that reduce the risk of human error and provide succession resilience, and recommends and implements improvements as necessary.
Collaborates with the Data Assets team on data strategy and to ensure accurate and timely data flow and segmentation for portfolio activities.
Collaborates with the Generosity Services team to ensure timely and accurate administration of new and upgraded monthly files.
Collaborates with the Philanthropy team to ensure that major and corporate giving prospects within Annual Giving portfolios are identified, evaluated, and if appropriate transitioned to another portfolio.
Collaborates with the Will & Estate Gifts team to develop strategy for legacy marketing, and expectant identification and stewardship.
Collaborates with the Digital Engagement & Giving team to optimize conversion to monthly giving and retention of annual donors.
Develops and maintains relationships with industry peers.
Commits to continued education and learning as it relates to fundraising generally and Annual Giving and Direct Response fundraising specifically.
**Leadership & Management (25%)**:
Oversees hiring, onboarding, performance management, development, and recognition of direct reports including but not limited to:
Ensuring their understanding of, and alignment with, the BC SPCA core values.
Ensuring they are provided with and complete the designated onboarding roadmap within the period noted.
Providing active coaching and mentorship to ensure objectives and goals are met, celebrating individual and team successes.
Conducting regular SMART goal setting and performance reviews.
Leading team-building efforts.
Ensuring coverage of team members’ duties during periods of absence as required.
Contributes to the development of Public Engagement & Advancement strategic roadmaps, high level priorities and annual plans in line with the strategic plan.
Develops Annual Giving team annual plans based on strategic plan and other key metrics, benchmarks and industry best practices
Support continuous improvement of processes and reporting.
Develops a robust system, metrics and targets to track the performance of the Annual Giving team. Uses analytics and critical thinking to review metrics consistently and adjust tactics and performance accordingly.
Ensures monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for the portfolio is complete and meets the needs of the Senior Director, Public Engagement & Giving.
Develops and administers Annual Giving expense and revenue budgets and manages accordingly to ensure the team meets targets and is within budget.
Reports on activities regularly to the Senior Director, Public Engagement & Giving.
Clearly communicates and endorses organizational decisions once made.
Prioritizes training related to meeting leadership expectations.
Contributes to the growth of a culture of health and safety, and volunteerism.
