Health & Safety Co-ordinator

**Job Overview**
Provide guidance, assistance and development to operational leadership in areas of safe work process, health & safety policy implementation, legislative requirements, training requirements, and inspections. Provide expertise and mentoring in the area of operational health and safety. Ensure appropriate safety training, practices, policies and procedures are in-place to avoid preventable health and safety occurrences.
**Duties**
- Work with the Management Teams and the Health & Safety Manager to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of health and safety and internal safety systems.
- Provide ongoing, in-field coaching to operations on legislative and corporate safety requirements and expectations. Coach, guide and assist site personnel in understanding their responsibilities related to management of safety, health and loss control issues.
- Develop and maintain a positive and proactive relationships with site management, employees and the management team.
- Maintain and adjust internal safety database as needed. Work with safety partners to ensure up to date policies, procedures and documentation are implemented and enforced.
- Perform weekly site audits to maintain policy expectations and address any needed corrective actions for unconformities.
- Participate and assist in the development and sourcing of new safety products ensuring effectiveness, consistency, and financial prudence.
- Assist management with reviewing and delivering on annual Health & Safety Plans, objectives, identifying improvement areas and developing action plans.
**Qualifications**
- Superior speaking and writing skills (English)
- Proficient computer skills (Office, Outlook and reporting)
- Ability to speak to, deliver messaging to, both small and large groups of varied backgrounds and experience.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant safety or industry experience considered an asset.
- COR, JHSC or relevant safety training considered an asset.
**Knowledge & Skills**
- Ability to work flexible hours as dictated by the requirements of the position, including travel time to sites.
- Ability to travel with valid G license and clean drivers abstract.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure & during communicating with internal parties.
- Mature attitude and ability to work effectively independent of supervision.
- Ability to handle confidential & potentially sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to persons at all levels of the organization.
- Familiarity with OHSA and regulations including Confined Space and Working at Heights (WAH).
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 44 per week
Additional pay:
- Overtime pay
