The **Liquor Store Manager** is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Curvy Bottle Liquor store, ensuring prompt, courteous and knowledgeable service to clients and customers. As a member of the management team, our Liquor Store Manager is responsible for leading inventory control and customer relationship. This position is expected to coach and develop staff to provide a superior shopping experience to our clients and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
- Schedule work hours of staff within budgetary restraints.
- Supervise the department staff; interviewing, hiring, training and coaching new employees.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure communication and positive relations.
- Ensure safe working conditions; follow and promote all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Achieve all key financial objectives, including but not limited to: sales, payroll and inventory control.
- Demonstrate an innovative and entrepreneurial approach by responding to the unique characteristics of the market.
- Implement comprehensive local marketing programs to maximize customer trial and awareness, while encouraging repeat visits.
- Creation and implementation of social media, internal and exterior signage promotions, and communication.
- Build team commitment to high service standards, exceeding customer expectations and leading by example.
- Champion of product knowledge and passing this knowledge on to associates. Utilize any internal training programs or materials available through account representatives.
- Maintain all equipment, resolving and/or communicating technical problems immediately.
- Monitor inventories, security standards and systems, equipment, and merchandise flow.
- Responsible for all financial activities, including reconciliation and daily bank deposits on a rotational basis with the management team, cash balancing, and the accurate monitoring of cash handling procedures.
- Complete all liquor orders and transfers while maintaining timelines.
- Ensuring general upkeep of the in and outside of the store, including but not limited to dusting, garbage, snow removal, product rotation.
- Invoicing and accurate monitoring and tracking of liquor transfer between the Liquor Store and hotel outlets.
- Drive company vehicles in accordance with safe handling processes and procedures to outside vendor locations and deliver requested alcoholic beverage orders carefully.
- Assist in performing weekly checks on the delivery van, such as oil, tire pressure, windshield washer fluid and fuel level.
- Assist in unpacking and recording all liquor purchases, including proper and safe stocking, lifting, sorting, and processing.
- Maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times; Adhere to the dress code, for Liquor store Associates, including nametag.
- Oversee performance of all associate duties.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.
**Education, Qualification and Requirements**
- 3 years of related experience in a supervisory or management capacity, retail preferred.
- Liquor retail experience with strong product knowledge of provincial regulations
- 1 to 2-year Degree or Diploma; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of the City of Red Deer and locations within the city is an asset;
- Must have Class 5 driver’s license (with no GDL or exceptions) and clean driver abstract;
- Solid understanding of computers, the Internet, and Microsoft Office, and can adapt to new technologies
- Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure with a positive attitude and strong selling skills.
- In-depth knowledge of wines, beer, and spirits.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.
- Upto Date ProServe, ProTect and WHMIS are required. First Aid/CPR is an asset.
- Ability to train staff and help them to continue to improve and develop their skills
- Must be fluent in English, both written and oral
- Ability to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings etc.
- Clear security and criminal record check required upon hire
**Work Environment**
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
- Ability to tolerate exposures to heat, cold and water
- Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 35 pounds regularly.
- While performing the duties of this job, there may be stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, and crouching
