**Who is Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge?**

Through the organization Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge (CRBCL), Cowessess First Nation is the first Indigenous community in Canada to assert its jurisdiction over child welfare and family services under the Bill-C92 Canada Act. CRBCL is currently developing its operations in accordance with the Miyo Pimatisowin Act, which provides support for its children and families in a way that is rooted in traditional Indigenous values and cultural practices.

**Position Summary**

CRBCL is looking for a Growing Up Well Worker who will work directly with children in care to build a strong foundation and access services necessary to support the development of their education, life skills, and career planning. Some job duties include, but are not limited to:

- Support and advocate for children's rights under the Miyo Pimatisowin Act.
- Work with Cowessess children and youth to establish risk factors, determine needs, and identify appropriate services to create a strong foundation for development.
- Create and maintain relationships with various service providers, liaise with social workers across Canada, and attend legal proceedings and circles involving children/youth.
- Counsel and provide resources to Cowessess children of all ages while integrating Indigenous culture and practices focused on development.
- Create records and tracking for open files across Canada that will be transferred to Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge.

**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**
- You will possess a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work degree from an accredited university, as approved by the SASW/CASW or CASWE.
- 2 years of experience working in the Human Services field.
- Knowledge of Bill C-92 and the Miyo Pimatisowin Act.
- Willing and able to travel with a valid Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle.
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.

**Skills & Abilities**
- Knowledgeable about the culture and spirituality of Indigenous people relating to family practices and community, and aware of the importance of observing these elements in a professional approach.
- Experienced in maintaining confidentiality, setting appropriate boundaries, and other basic professional ethics with clients.
- Strong understanding of child and youth development.
- Excellent organizational, record-keeping and time management skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Dynamic interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and create trusting relationships with children, parents, and co-workers.
- Able to promote and educate children on positive behavioural intervention strategies.
- Able to read, interpret, and speak on policies and other formal legislation.
- Able to facilitate meetings/circles and lead conversations to guide goal setting and establish milestones.
- Able to work closely with adults and children respectfully and effectively, providing emotional, physical, and psychological support where needed.

The incumbent must provide a successful criminal background check with vulnerable sector search as well as be willing and able to commute to the CRBCL Head Office on a regular basis, which is located on Cowessess First Nation, SK.
