About Us
River Valley Energy Services specializes in safely and accurately locating buried pipelines and utility facilities across challenging rural environments. We are expanding our team and looking for dedicated professionals to join our operations. The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for two roles:Experienced Line Locators and Line Locating Assistants. Experienced Line Locators will leverage their extensive knowledge in the oil and gas sector to manage projects and potentially supervise assistants, ensuring all client needs are met with precision and professionalism. Locating Assistants will work closely with Crew Chiefs to learn the trade. We are willing to train new employees who are eager to enter the industry, committed to safety, and ready for a challenging outdoor work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately locate/stake underground pipelines and utilities in rural, off-highway environments.
- Operate off-highway vehicles (OHVs/UTVs) to access remote job sites.
- Read and interpret utility maps, site plans, and client drawings.
- Complete detailed field documentation and daily paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining field equipment and company vehicles.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and be physically capable of walking long distances daily (5-15 km). Qualifications & Requirements Required for all applicants:
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean 3-year driver's abstract are essential.
- Strong commitment to safety and ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Willingness and ability to work long shifts, weekends, and away from home for extended periods. Minimum Required Safety Certifications (must be current) include:
- H2S Alive:
- Standard First Aid Assets For Experienced Locators:
- Multiple years of experience in related pipeline and utility locating is required.
- Experience navigating using mapping software and legal site descriptions.
- Experience with satellite, battery, lease sites, and right-of-ways.
- Ground Disturbance Level II Cert
- Buried Facility Training Cert
- ATV/UTV/Snowmobile riders Cert or experience
- Driving with light duty trailers Assets For Locating Assistants:
- No prior experience is necessary; we will provide on-the-job training in a supportive assistant role.
- Working outdoors
- ATV/UTV/Snowmobile riders Cert or experience
- Driving with light duty trailers
