**Dufferin Aggregates, a divison of CRH Canada is looking to hire**

Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety, the incumbent will be responsible for the coordination and administration of OH&S program activities and projects to support business objectives. The incumbent will partner with local business leaders to ensure compliance and provide day-to-day leadership in the continued building of a strong culture of safety.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Ensure Health & Safety standards are met by; coordinating, promoting and conducting various OH&S programs and activities related to the OH&S Management System; conducting OH&S assessments and periodic audits; implementing health and safety strategies and action plans; coaching and advising management of OH&S policies, procedures, practices and legislative requirements.
- Continue building a strong safety culture by; promoting the philosophy that safety is a value associated with every priority, and is non-negotiable, and promote a safe and healthy work environment based on employee engagement, ownership, teamwork, education, training and leadership.
- Development of loss control programs which support the OHS Management System.
- Develop & work closely with OHS Coordinator to expand their knowledge within OHS and the business.
- Working closely with Regional HR Services to co-ordinate training and development program for business unit by; analyzing and assessing training needs; vendor selection; developing and delivering training presentations
- Maintain Management Knowledge by; providing advice, counsel and assistance to management in areas of OH&S.
- Act as a liaison with Ministry of Labor during compliance visits and investigations.
- Complies with Federal, Provincial and Local Legal requirements by; studying existing and new legislation enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Working closely with Manager, Occupational Health Claims Management for supporting WSIB claim management by; assist site supervisors and managers in the assessment of incident investigation, and support of the Early & Safe Return to Work Program.
- As required, liaise with external and internal contacts; Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, Workplace Safety Associations, Ministry of Labour and other business units within CRH Canada Group Inc.
- Ensure completion of site specific Safety MAP’s on an annual basis.
- Actively working towards and/or maintaining CRSP designation.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Position Requirements (Experience, Technical Expertise)**:

- Extensive knowledge of OH&S principles, policies, procedures and regulations
- Extensive knowledge of business operating processes and procedures
- Sound working knowledge of provincial legislation and regulations WSIA,OHSA.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (word, excel, project)
- 5-7 years of experience in Health and Safety from heavy industry environment preferred
- Possess a Valid Driver’s License (Class G or equivalent)
- CRSP Designation or working towards achieving designation

**Education**:

- University degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and acquired work experience
